This collection consists of diaries, correspondence, speeches, and articles written by Raymond Walters and before and during his presidency of the University of Cincinnati. The collection provides a look at day-to-day activities of a university president during the Great Depression, World War II, and the early 1950s and information on Walters' research projects on Stephen Foster and college and university enrollment.

Stephen Collins foster was born in Pittsburgh in 1826. He wasnaturally inclined to music and he wrote over one hundred and seventy songs in his short life.
